Replacement of Yupelri with Incruse in COPD Maintenance Therapy

Patient Selection Criteria

  • The American Thoracic Society recommends that patients demonstrate adequate inhaler technique with dry powder devices before switching from Yupelri to Incruse 1, 2
  • Patients who prefer a portable inhaler over nebulizer setup can be considered for replacement, as cost or insurance coverage may favor the dry powder formulation 2

Inhaler Technique and Adherence

  • Optimized and verified inhaler technique is crucial before switching from nebulized to dry powder delivery, to ensure effective treatment 1, 2
  • Patients with poor technique or adherence with dry powder inhalers previously should not be replaced with Incruse 1, 2

Combination Therapy

  • The European Respiratory Society suggests that the combination of LAMA with LABA provides additive benefit in severe disease, and this can be achieved with either delivery system 1, 3, 4

Contraindications and Precautions

  • Beta-blocking agents, including eye drops, should be avoided in all COPD patients regardless of which LAMA is used, as recommended by the British Thoracic Society 2, 3
