Olanzapine ODT Administration and Clinical Considerations

Dosing and Administration

• When used as an antiemetic in cancer patients, olanzapine ODT (10 mg) can be administered at bedtime, according to the American Society of Clinical Oncology 1
• For patients with delirium, the typical starting dose is 2.5-5 mg daily, usually at bedtime, as recommended by the American Society of Clinical Oncology 1
• Reduce dose in older patients and those with hepatic impairment, as advised by the American Society of Clinical Oncology 1

Safety and Precautions

• Caution should be used when combining olanzapine ODT with benzodiazepines due to risk of oversedation and respiratory depression, as warned by the American Society of Clinical Oncology 1
