Telmisartan Dosing Guidelines

General Recommendations

• The International Society of Hypertension guidelines recommend simplifying hypertension treatment regimens with once-daily dosing 2, 3
• If a dose is missed, the patient should take the next dose at the regularly scheduled time and should not double the dose, according to the Hypertension guidelines 1

Dose Adjustment and Management

• If blood pressure control is inadequate with the current dose of telmisartan, the appropriate approach would be to discuss with the healthcare provider about adjusting the regular daily dose or adding another antihypertensive agent, rather than adding an extra dose in the same day, as recommended by Hypertension and Diabetes Care guidelines 4, 5
