Treatment-Resistant Depression

  • The American Geriatrics Society recommends starting with a dose of 25 mg daily with gradual titration by 25 mg increments every 5-7 days for elderly patients with severe depression 3
  • The American Geriatrics Society advises that trazodone may be appropriate for severe agitation in dementia or treatment-resistant depression when other options have failed, with close surveillance for orthostatic hypotension, falls, and cardiac effects 3
