Testicular Calcification Management

Risk Assessment

  • Testicular calcifications alone are not reliable indicators for malignancy risk 1
  • The presence of cryptorchidism (undescended testicle) is a risk factor for testicular cancer 2
  • A family history of testicular cancer and prior testicular cancer are risk factors for testicular cancer 3
  • Testicular atrophy is a risk factor for testicular cancer 1
  • Patient education on regular testicular self-examination is recommended for patients with an isolated 0.1 cm calcification without other risk factors 2
  • Consider referral to urology for further evaluation if the patient has additional risk factors (cryptorchidism, family history of testicular cancer, etc.) 1
