Ketorolac Dosing and Treatment Duration Guidelines

Dosing Interval for Acute Pain Management

  • In adults with acute pain, ketorolac is recommended to be administered every 6 hours to sustain analgesic coverage throughout the dosing period【1】.
  • This 6‑hour dosing schedule is supported by pharmacokinetic data indicating a 5‑6 hour elimination half‑life and is intended to maintain therapeutic drug concentrations until the drug is fully eliminated【2】.
  • Ketorolac therapy should be limited to a total of 5 days of use to minimize the risk of serious adverse events, such as gastrointestinal bleeding and renal impairment【1】【3】【4】.
