Treatment for Wrist Ganglion Cyst

Diagnostic Approach

  • Diagnosis primarily relies on history and physical examination, with ultrasound (US) recommended as the initial imaging modality to confirm the fluid-filled nature of the cyst, as recommended by the American College of Radiology 1, 2
  • MRI is reserved for suspected occult ganglion cysts or when there's concern about solid tumors, according to the American College of Radiology 3, 1

Follow-up

  • MRI should be repeated at least every 6 months until resolution of the cystic component for patients with persistent symptoms, as suggested by the American College of Radiology 3, 4
