Common Side Effects

  • Nausea occurs frequently but is typically mild and resolves without intervention 1, 2, 3
  • Abdominal bloating and cramping are common, especially during initial treatment 2, 3
  • Diarrhea can develop, particularly with higher doses or in sensitive individuals 2

  • PEG 3350 is minimally absorbed systemically, which contributes to its favorable safety profile 3
  • When used for bowel preparation for colonoscopy, higher volumes are required which may increase the risk of side effects 1, 4
  • The American Gastroenterological Association recommends adequate hydration to prevent dehydration during treatment with PEG 3350 3
