Topical Finasteride and Minoxidil Combination Therapy for Androgenetic Alopecia

Adjunctive Therapies

  • Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) combined with topical minoxidil 5% demonstrates higher efficacy than minoxidil alone, and PRP monotherapy is more effective than minoxidil monotherapy in most studies, according to the Periodontology 2000 guidelines 1, 2
  • Consider adding PRP (three intradermal scalp injections spaced one month apart) for patients who are poor responders to conventional therapy, as suggested by Periodontology 2000 1, 2
  • Nonactivated PRP demonstrates 31% greater increases in hair count and total hair density compared to activated PRP, as reported by Periodontology 2000 1, 2
